Ishq Colombo

Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka, offers a great, high energy contrast to Ishq’s serene setting and manicured gardens. Colombo’s origins date back to the 16th century, and its port serves as an important harbour in Asia due to its strategic location in the Indian Ocean. The city’s ageing colonial-era buildings combine wonderfully with the rapidly increasing shiny-new high rises.

The villa is centrally located in a quiet neighbourhood, offering easy access to the city’s upscale restaurants, lively bars, healthy food cafes, excellent contemporary art galleries, and shopping centres. Within a 5-kilometer radius of the villa are ancient temples, museums, a golf course, the bustling fort, and the vibrant Pettah bazaar. One of the most enjoyable ways to discover this city is on foot, either by yourself, or with a knowledgeable guide.

Ishq Colombo is a 40-minute drive (35km) from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and a 2 hour drive (120km) from the historic port city of Galle.

Dining

Reservations at the villa are on Bed and Breakfast basis. All other meals will be served and charged for accordingly from the à la carte menu.

Our menus offer an array of options from Sri Lankan to International cuisines. We also offer specialty Memoni cuisine. All dietary requirements can be catered to – including gluten and vegan meals – and our in-house chefs are flexible with creating dishes off the menu. Pork is not offered at the villa.

Packed or picnic meals can be provided to guests when venturing out during the day.

The villa does not have a liquor license. Guests are encouraged to bring their own liquor which the team will be happy to chill and serve. There will be no corkage fee.

JH Villa is a former Portuguese colonial estate on a beautiful hilltop site overlooking the Indian Ocean and only a 5-minute stroll from JH Beach House.

Our 6 rooms and suites can be taken individually or the villa in its entirety for parties of up to 12, serviced 24/7 by attentive staff. Although a private estate, JH Villa is run as a boutique hotel with each detail of your stay taken care of.

The three-acre private estate perfectly reflects the essence of Sri Lanka: bounded by a trickling stream, palm-fringed, canopied by birdsong, a playground of monkeys and peacocks. Emerald lawns give on to the sands of a fabulous coral beach.

The jewel of this private paradise is a magnificent 15-meter infinity swimming pool, flanked by its own pavilions. Here, with its sunset views, you can truly attain a state of mindfulness taking you outside time’s ever-onward march.

Our chef will tailor-make a menu each day, dependent on what is fresh at the market and following your tastes. He has received some incredible feedback so far (see reviews) and our whole team, headed by our General Manager Warne, will look after you beautifully.

There are many places you can dine across the property and we will also organise reservations at the best restaurants in the area, should you wish to head out and explore.

This spectacular fully staffed property sits in the hills, a short 15-minute drive from the beaches of Ahangama and set on its own 80 acre estate. The design and interiors are fresh and beautiful, inspired by the traditional setting of Sri Lankan tea plantations.

The house comprises two main suites but can also be configured to sleep up to seven, with 3 doubles and one single all with en suite bathrooms.  There is a large infinity pool as well as a plunge pool in front of one of the rooms.

There is an indoor sitting room as well as a large open sided sitting/eating area which benefits from the hilltop breeze and extensive views over the plantation, rice paddy and private lake.   Off season it is possible to rent just one of the suites. The house is fully staffed.
